Monitoring agroecological transition: ASIRPA Real Time and the Agroecology Partnership

Monitoring agroecological transition : ASIRPA Real-Time’s team gathers with partners of the Agroecology Partnership to strengthen collaboration on agroecological transition

As part of a European Partnership dedicated to Agroecology, the ASIRPA team leads a task focused on real-time formative evaluation of funded projects. That role took the team to Bratislava, Slovakia, this June, where it joined its Work Package 5 (WP5) partners for three days of intensive, in-person work on data and monitoring for the agroecological transition.

ASIRPA Real-Time’s team has been involved since late 2025 in the European Partnership Agroecology : 'Accelerating Farming Systems Transition: Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures' (2024-2033). The team leads a task dedicated to implementing real-time formative evaluation of projects funded by the Partnership. As part of this work, the subtask's objective is to support these projects in the co-construction and iterative adjustment of their impact pathways towards agroecological transition. This includes the anticipation of levers, obstacles and opportunities that direct these pathways, and to strengthen their alignment with the principles of agroecology. As such, it is part of Work Package 5 (WP5), which is responsible for developing the conceptual framework, methodologies and indicators needed to monitor the agroecological transition, its impacts, and its social, economic, environmental and climate performance, across a range of actors, contexts and scales.

All WP 5 members met in June 2026 in Bratislava, Slovakia, for three days of work on monitoring the agroecological transition and on the challenges of data collection at the scale of a European partnership.

Beyond the progress made on each individual task, the collaborative sessions with the other WP5 working groups and tasks helped build a shared understanding of the challenges involved in monitoring agroecological transformations, as well as new synergies between WP5 teams. These exchanges helped bring perspectives closer together on how the Partnership can move towards a common monitoring framework for the agroecological transition.
