Typology of cases

Typology of cases

Four "ideal-type" impact pathways of INRAE research, illustrated by examples

The typological analysis of the case studies identified and categorized cases that share similarities, in order to determine the mechanisms that generate economic, political, health (sanitary) or environmental impacts on society. This approach has revealed four main types of impact pathways.

Typology of 48 studied cases

Moderate co-production of knowledgeStrong co-production of knowledge
Strong transformation of actorsType 4: Public research as key initiator of intensive transformationType 1: Intensive transformation drawing on existing networks
Weak transformation of actorsType 3: Market for technologiesType 2: Strong collaboration in long term research programs
