Valuing ASIRPA Ex Post case studies

Valuing ASIRPA Ex Post case studies

Ex post evaluation of research impacts:

  • Accounts for the richness and diversity of the impacts of INRAE's research
  • Sheds light on the mechanisms that generate these impacts and contributes to building an impact culture within the institute

The case studies result from a restrospective reasoning (from the observed impact back to the contributions of research) and make it possible to identify the devices (structures, partnerships, etc.) that are capable of producing impacts.

The case studies carried out highlight:

  • The time lag between the start of research and the emergence of impacts (10 to 15 years, depending on the case)
  • The role of research infrastructures
  • The importance of INRAE's contribution at the different stages of the impact pathway

The case studies also play a demonstration role vis-à-vis INRAE's various partners and help meet the demands of funders. They showcase the institute's research results and the impacts generated at the societal level. Consequently, they can be:

  • Internal and external communication tools
  • Knowledge transfer and institutional memory resources
  • A means to enhance the visibility of INRAE's missions
